You prayed — or you're about to. Here's what comes next, one day at a time. One short reading, one verse, one thing to do. No rush. God isn't in a hurry.
Day 1 of 7
Everything starts here. Not with getting your life together. Not with understanding the Bible. With a prayer — you telling Him you're done running things your way, and asking Jesus to take over.
You don't need the right words, and you don't need to feel anything special. Just be honest. He already knows your heart, and He's been waiting for this moment.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9Pray the prayer. Out loud if you can — there's power in hearing your own voice say it. Use your own words, or pray mine with me.
You might wake up this morning wondering if anything actually happened last night. That's normal. Here's the truth: salvation isn't a feeling. Feelings come and go — His promise doesn't.
If you meant that prayer, you're His. Not because you feel different today, but because He said so. And He doesn't lie.
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
1 John 5:13Tell one person what you did. Text a Christian friend, call your mom, or just write it down with today's date. The Bible says heaven throws a party over one person who turns to God — let someone else in on it.
The Bible can feel intimidating — it's big. Here's the secret: don't start at the beginning. Start with John. It's the story of Jesus, written for one reason: so that you would believe.
Grab the free Bible app and read one chapter a day. Ten minutes. That's it. Don't try to understand all of it — just let it read you.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105Read John chapter 1. Just the first chapter. Then come back tomorrow. I put the Bible app and more here.
Prayer isn't a performance. It's talking — like you'd talk to someone who loves you and is actually listening. Because He is.
Keep it simple. Thank Him for something. Tell Him what you're sorry for. Ask Him for what you need. Thanks, sorry, please — that's a whole prayer life right there.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Philippians 4:6Two minutes, your own words. In your head or out loud — He hears both.
You weren't meant to do this by yourself. Jesus never asked anyone to follow Him alone — find people walking the same road.
Church can feel awkward the first time. That's okay. Everyone in that building had a first Sunday once. Go as you are — that's the whole point.
“And let us not neglect our meeting together… but encourage one another.”
Hebrews 10:25Ask a Christian you know where they go to church — or pick one service to visit this Sunday. Wondering which kind? I wrote about that here.
You already have a testimony. You don't need the whole Bible memorized and you don't need all the answers — just tell people what happened to you. That's what a witness is.
Nobody can argue with your story. It's yours.
“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.”
Mark 5:19Tell one person your story today. Two minutes: what your life was like, what happened, what's different now.
Day 7 isn't the finish line — it's the starting line. The Christian life isn't a week-long program. It's a walk, one day at a time, for the rest of your life.
Two things to carry forward. Keep reading — you're in John, keep going. And get baptized. Baptism is going public: telling the world you belong to Him now. Ask about it at the church you visit.
“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 3:18Ask about baptism. When you visit that church, ask what the next step looks like — going public with your faith is the natural move after this week.
Seven days down, a lifetime to go. The Daily Shine lands every morning — one verse, a few honest words. And if you ever have a question I didn't answer, ask me. I asked them all once too.
